Practical Approach to the near and far Field Regions

摘要
In this paper the radiated field of an antenna is analyzed in terms of the magnitude and direction of the Poynting vector. The relative component decays rapidly with distance end for separations larger than 20 lambda (wavelengths) from the real component of Poynting vector, under this assumptions the wave can be considered as a plane wave. Therefore, measurements at such distances conform with the radiation pattern.
