Electrochemical in situ STM study of a Cu(111) electrode in neutral sulfate containing electrolyte

摘要
We have investigated the potential dependent surface phase behaviour of a Cu(I 11) electrode in a neutral sulfate containing electrolyte by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (ECSTM). The cyclic voltammograms show characteristic peaks for the formation/reduction of an oxide film. Based on our ECSTM measurements obtained over the entire potential range between hydrogen evolution at -900 mV vs. RHE and passivation up to +175 mV, the potential window can be divided into four regions with characteristic surface structures.
