Construction geotechnology - A science of underground space development

摘要
Finding a solution to a global problem like underground space development of the interior of the Earth largely depends on scientific foundation of practical techniques and methods for designing, constructing, and utilization of underground structures. The integration of knowledge accumulated by various fundamental and applied sciences resulted in the development of a new mining science known by the name of Construction Geotechnology. The article makes an attempt at clarifying the principles, aims, objectives, and the basic terminology of the science. The main trends of research and development are outlined.
