Research on the mechanism of the formation of nanoparticle of α-Fe2O3 powder in aqueous solution with amorphous δ-FeOOH

摘要
Ultrafine alpha-Fe2O3 powder, with spherical shape, high purity and a diameter of less than 25 nm, formed rapidly in weak acid suspension by using amorphous delta-FeOOH as precursor. The phase, structure and shape of the product were characterized by XRD, FTIR, TEM, TG/DTA and size-analysis. It is revealed that amorphous delta-FeOOH is sensitive to heat and transfers to stable alpha-Fe2O3 and alpha-FeOOH much easily, while alpha-FeOOH can spontaneously transfer to alpha-Fe2O3 under refluxing.
