New Orthocladiin species of the genus Limnophyes (Diptera, Chironomidae) .1.

A male and a female of the new orthocladiin species Limnophyes sokolovae sp. n. are described. The species was found in Polar region (the Laptev Sea, Dunai island). The species is similar to L. edwardsi Saether. It differs from the latter by structure of genitaliae, number of antenna articules, reduced anal lobe wing, greater number of setae on clypeus, presence of lanceolate prealars and posterior anepistemum setae. The species inhabits small shallow lakes. It's monocyclic. Emergency occurs during the first half of July.
