摘要
This project is carried out to improve the productivity and efficiency of a vehicle seat assembly line in a local automotive vehicle part manufacturer. The existing a vehicle seat assembly line is studied first using line balancing and simulation approach. The data collected from existing line are operating time and processes, material handling system, workstation layout and equipment, and bill of materials. A new layout of assembly line is proposed. The productivity and efficiency comparison of the existing assembly line and the proposed assembly line are also highlighted a conveyor system transporting the product along the production line. The assembly is done manually and automated with an employee deployed at each station. The existing operation procedures were modified into time elements for developing standard time for the final assembly line. The developed standard time for Model X is shown in Table 1. The standard time will be used for line balancing problem and simulation activities.
