Synthesis and characterization of Schiff base derivatives of bimetallic [Mg(II); Al(III)]-μ-oxoisopropoxide

摘要
The reactions of bimetallic-mu-oxoisopropoxide [MgO2Al2 (OPri)(4)] with schiff bases (HLL') viz. salicylidene-aniline (HSalan), salicylidene-o-toluidene (HSaltoin) or salicylidene-p-chloroaniline (HSalcan) in the molar ratios 1: 1, 1:2 and 1:3 yields compounds of the type [MgO2Al2(Opr(i))(3) (LL'), [MgO2Al2, (OPri)(2)(LL')(2) and [MgO2Al2(OPri)(LL')(3)] (where LL' is deproptonated Schiff's base) respectively. The schiff base derivatives of bimetallic [Mg(II);Al(III)]-mu-oxoisopi-opoxide have been characterized by elemental analysis, molecular weight measurements, and spectral studies (IR, H-1 NMR Al-27 NMR). A dimeric structure for 1:1 and 1:2 and a monomeric structure for 1:3 schiff base derivatives of bimetallic [Mg(II);Al(III)]-mu-oxoi sopropoxide have been tentatively proposed.
