Industrial minerals and the environment: A review of international market trends

Enhanced concern for protection of the environment and attendant actions by environmental regulatory authorities in support of this concern are influencing, to varying degrees, the demand and supply of a range of industrial minerals in a number of jurisdictions. These influences lake a variety of forms. In this paper, the author seeks to delineate certain broad trends which are occurring relative to industrial minerals and the environment and then, through a series of examples, to outline opportunities, developments, and impacts respecting a number of industrial minerals produced and consumed in Canada and the United States.
