摘要
Magnetic measurements of the principal magnetic susceptibility (chi(perpendicular to)) of neodymium bromate enneahydrate have been carried out from room temperature (295 K) down to 13 K and of the magnetic anisotropy from 295 to 92 K. A crystal field (CF) of D-3h site symmetry with J mixed eigenvectors taking into consideration intermediate coupling effects provides a very good explanation of the observed principal magnetic susceptibilities, the absorption spectra and the g-values. The thermal variation of the Schottky heat capacity, hyperfine heat capacity and the time averaged quadrupole-splitting of Nd-143 and Nd-145 are worked out and discussed theoretically in the light of the proposed CF.
