Analysis on Residents' Perceptions and Attitudes toward Glacier Tourism: A Case Study in Lijiang

With many inherent advantages, monsoonal temperate glaciers are also special tourism resources. However, the rapid glacier retreat against the global warming worried the local residents. In order to understand their perceptions and attitudes towards glacier tourism and the influencing factors, Yulong Snow Mountain, Yunnan, China was selected the as a case for study. The results showed that almost all of the residents support the development of tourism although they are also aware of its negative impact on tourism. Residents' attitudes towards tourism development were significantly influenced by path dependence and the expectation, which explains the unanimous support attitudes of the residents.
