A note on regressing real-world data on model output

摘要：
We use a simple example to illustrate the perversity of the simultaneous F-test of observed data regressed on model output. Despite its intuitive appeal, the test can be severely misleading. Depending on the relationship between real-world and modelled data, the probability of rejection of a valid model may increase with sample size. This is not acceptable behaviour for a validation test of complex simulation models.
