Samarium Chloride (SmCl3) Doped Poly(o-Toluidine): Synthesis and Characterization

摘要
Poly(o-Toluidine) a derivative of polyaniline is synthesized by chemical polymerization and doped with different concentrations of Samarium Chloride (SmCl3). The DC conductivity of both undoped and doped polymers is measured in the temperature range of 300-400 K and is found to increase with temperature. XRD studies reveal that crystallinity of polymers increases after doping. Incorporation of dopant into the polymer matrix is confirmed by FTIR studies. UV-Visible studies show occurrence of direct band gaps in all the samples which are found to decrease after doping. All the polymer/SmCl3 composites exhibit a high PL emission intensity, which makes them suitable for various optoelectronic devices.
