摘要
Liquid crystal cells are suited for amplitude modulation as well as for phase modulation of light. Therefore these devices can be applied as optical elements for controlled diffraction of light. Transparent liquid crystal phase modulators are efficient tools for the diffraction of high light currents, especially. Different technologies, important design parameters and the resulting electro-optical properties are discussed and experimental data are outlined.
