Aristotle, practical syllogism and animals

Aristotle sometimes admits of animal thinking. But although he seems to consider in his De motu animalium that animals even make use of practical syllogisms, we had better avoid any temptation to believe that he explains in this way animal behaviour for he explicitly denies reasoning, and first of all, universal thinking to non-human animals; now, without concepts or universal judgments, no premises of a forward syllogism.
