摘要：
The discrete element method (DEM) as a numerical tool for the analysis of mechanical interactions of discontinuous systems has been gaining importance over the past decade in several areas of engineering discipline. This method is particularly suitable and has been used extensively for the analysis of minerals engineering system. This paper gives an overview of the numerical technique and few applications where DEM can he successfully applied.
