摘要
This is a personal account of my appreciation as an artist and an educator of the medium of film; in particular, 16mm film. It is a plea for the preservation and renewed appreciation of this moving-image medium, and a statement of dissent to all those who believe that film is dead.2 I feel particularly aggrieved by those who strive for the complete elimination of analogue film in film schools. In this ode to 16mm film, I will explain how analogue film remains relevant today in the industry and for independent filmmakers, and why it is still a vital tool for teaching and learning the art and craft of film and its history. This is a personal letter of protest and praise, a tryout of my testament as a film artist and film teacher. © 2022 Film Studies Association of Canada CFFS/RCEC. All rights reserved.
