Performance Analysis of 15Gb/s VCSEL based Optical Links of 683nm, 863nm, 1550nm Wavelengths in presence of EDTA and SOA

摘要
A Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) based error free (BER < 10(-12)) data transmission system at 15Gb/s over 50km distance is demonstrated in this paper. We have analyzed the performance of this model at 683nm, 863nm, 1550nm wavelengths and 25 degrees C to 150 degrees C operating temperature range. We have further analyzed the overall performance variation including Q-factor, bit error rate (BER), output power by incorporating fiber amplifiers namely Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) and Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) in the system. With our proposed system we have achieved error free data transmission at 50km distance with maximum Q-factor of 52.7, temperature performance of system up to 128 degrees C and also the output power of 82.5mW at room temperature.
