Combined acetabular and femoral surgical navigation in total hip arthroplasty

摘要
A combined acetabular and femoral navigation system for total hip arthroplasty (THA) using the infrared light emitting diode markers and the optical cameras was developed. Using this navigation system, nine patients underwent THA for osteoarthritis secondary to hip dysplasia. The efficacy of computer navigation systems with an optical camera and LED markers for the acetabular cup placement was confirmed in this study as previously reported with the HipNav. Expanding applications of navigation to the femoral side brought benefits to guide the femoral neck osteotomy level, the medullary axis, the femoral offset, and the femoral. Moreover, it was useful to provide the information of the limb length and relative motion of each component while checking the safe range of motion.
