Reinvestigation of nucleophilic addition to the [(naphthalene)Mn(CO)3]+ cation:: Hydrogen migration in [(exo-R-η5-C10H8)Mn(CO)3]

摘要
Treatment of RMgBr with 1 at -78 degreesC led to the isolation of an equilibrium mixture of [(exo-1-R-eta(5)-C10H8)Mn(CO)(3)] (2a-h) and [(exo-1-H-eta(5)-C10H7-4-R)Mn(CO)(3)] (3a-h). The equilibrium ratio is dependent upon the R group. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis confirms the formation of 3d (R = p-tolyl). Treatment of the mixture of 2a (R = Me) and 3a (R = Me) with Ph3CBF4 led to the isolation of [(eta(6)-1-Me-C10H7)Mn(CO)(3)]-BF4 in 94% yield.
