Monitoring indices for metal transfer in the GMAW process

摘要：
This paper presents a methodology for monitoring the gas metal arc welding process objectively using indices developed from the statistical features of the welding current and voltage transient waveforms. Four indices are presented which give qualitative interpretation of the mode of metal transfer and also an indication of the ignition behaviour and the stability of the welding are. To ensure robustness, the indices were combined to establish general monitoring rules for the welding process.
