Explore a New Design Process of Integrating Packaging into Product

From manufacturing base to customers, packaging serves as the important carrier of products. It plays a significant role of protecting products, facilitating storage and transportation as well as promoting distribution. It means that products need packaging and packaging can't exist without products. Basically, in the stage of design process, there is almost no discussion between the product designer and packaging designer. The product designer may easily ignore products' problems that may appear in the packaging process. This paper proposes a new process that packaging design should be included to the stage of product design. Compared with the traditional product development process, it can make the structure of product and packaging more scientific and reasonable as well as packaging room can be utilized completely etc. In this paper, some specific design cases will be illustrated to analyze and demonstrate the advantages of this design method.
