摘要：
Clean and regenerative power generation, low-emission and energy-saving mobility modes, and resource-conserving production techniques are selected areas in which modern metal-forming can contribute to solving global challenges. The paper intends to demonstrate how these challenges stimulate advances in metal forming and how metal forming can in its turn help to meet these challenges. The examples discussed include new flexible bulk and sheet metal forming technologies for large components, online process and product property control, lightweight design opportunities provided by new materials and processes as well as the continuously growing importance of materials and process modeling and simulation.
