Results from the First Two Years of Operation of the LHC: the CMS Experiment

The LHC has delivered 6 inverse femtobarns of integrated luminosity in its first two years of operation at a proton-proton center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, providing a rich dataset for precision measurements and new particle searches at the high energy frontier. During this period the CMS experiment has operated efficiently and at its design performance. This report will cover only a few of the physics highlights produced from this dataset given the limited space, including electroweak and heavy flavor measurements, constraints on the allowed mass range for the Standard Model Higgs boson, searches for evidence of Supersymmetry, and searches for other exotic phenomena.
