Historical Evolution of Theory of Reference Meaning View and the Inevitability of Its Dynamic Research

Meaning is the core issue of language studies. So far, scholars examine the meaning issue from different dimensions. Theory of reference is the most basic one in various theories of meaning, and provides a basic framework for theory of meaning playing a fundamental role. Based on brief comments on traditional theory of reference, this paper points out the limitation in static studies on traditional theory of reference, and further proposes the inevitability of dynamic studies on theory of reference.
