A diachronic analysis of apposed relative clauses in Basque

This paper analyses, from a diachronic perspective, Basque apposed relative clauses. On the basis of a 16th-to-19th-century texts corpus, I show that apposed relatives have a series of special properties: they tend to be used in a few quite well defined contexts and syntactical properties which differ from other Basque relative constructions. I also describe the diachronic changes visible in the corpus data.
