摘要
In this study, a performance evaluation of 25 member states of the European Union, Norway, Croatia, Switzerland, and Turkey (a candidate country), regarding energy consumption was conducted. A nonparametric approach based on data envelopment analysis and Malmquist Index is proposed as an alternative to the classic methods. The data set covers the years between 1998 and 2006 and energy indicators used in the analysis are taken from the EUROSAT for all countries. Results of analysis show that Turkey should make significant strategy plans about consumption and production of basic energy sources.
