Debinding and sintering processes of injection molded pure molybdenum

摘要
Debinding and sintering processes of injection molded pure molybdenum were studied. The effect of thermal debinding, solvent-thermal debinding and sintering processes on binder removal efficiency and the content of carbon and oxygen were investigated, meanwhile the microstructure and mechanical properties of sintered product were observed. For n-heptanes solvent debinding, 60% of binder could be extracted at the temperature of 40-50 degrees C after 2 h immersion. The content of carbon in direct thermal debinding parts was higher than that in solvent-thermal debinding parts. The content of carbon and oxygen for both debinding processes were decreased significantly and were respectively less than 0.060% and 0.0042% after sintering under hydrogen atmosphere. It was found that the density of sintered parts increased with sintering temperature until 1850 degrees C and then decreased. The parts sintered at 1850 degrees C for 120 min exhibited a density of 9.70 g/cm(3), tensile strength of 229 MPa and hardness HV10 of 1930 MPa.
