摘要
The lightweight design of vehicle parts and assemblies has become a key aspect in the manufacture of newly developed vehicles. However, excessively lightweight parts or assemblies unexpectedly exhibit decreased fatigue life and reliability. The aluminium wheel hub has been improved by the lightweight design method based on reliability; this approach shortens the design process and development while achieving quality requirements. A parameterized model of the wheel hub is established according to the benchmark vehicle. The stress and strain analysis is obtained using the finite element method, and fatigue life is predicted according to the maximum stress of the product. The reliability of the aluminium wheel hub is calculated to assess whether further improvement is required. This method is also applicable for the enhancement and lightweight design of other mechanical parts bearing cyclic load.
