The effects of aging time and temperature on the magnetic properties of nickel alloys

摘要
The development of NDE tools for the detection of creep and fatigue damage-in nickel alloys must be preceded by a more fundamental understanding of the changes occurring during creep in these materials. Metallurgical phase changes can occur during the normal operating life of a component due to the effects of aging and high temperatures; these changes, and their effect on NDE measurements, must be determined. We have conducted vibrating-sample magnetometer (VSM) experiments on Inconel 738 samples that were a.-ed between 100 hours and 3200 hours at temperatures between 732 degreesC and 954 degreesC.
