摘要
Historians and experts share the view on the Irish war of Independence as the first and unsuccessful experience of the British army in modern counterinsurgency. Meanwhile, some important aspects of the British army involvement in the "Irish war" still are underestimated - these are the strategic importance of the imperial context; ways, means and scale of transfer of experience in counterinsurgency acquired by the British security forces in Ireland. All these problems analyzed in the article through the prism of theoretical and practical specifics of collection, systematization and distribution of mentioned experience among the British armed forces during the Interbellum, and in concern with the differences in understanding nature and character of the "Irish war" between the military and the government.
