Separation of thermal and non-thermal emission in the nucleus of M82

We report the preliminary results of an investigation of the ISM in the starburst nucleus of M82. Using VLA maps at wavelengths 6 and 3.6 cm, we have mapped the spectral index of the radio continuum at a resolution of 2 " (34 pc), in order to identify those regions where either thermal or non-thermal emission dominates. We identify several massive H II complexes. We discuss the morphology of both components in comparison with features at other wavelengths.
