摘要
As an enhancement to the Java programming language, this paper presents the design and implementation of an abstract and persistent data structure called sparse array. Sparse array is a special array that allocates space to its element only when it is dynamically created and most of the elements in the array are empty. The implementation of the sparse array data structure in this project is on top of a distributed system with multiple client/server architecture. The purpose of this work, is to provide database application developers with a programming interface that enables them to work at a higher level and with part of their development effort automated so that they can focus on application specific development.
