摘要
Preparation of psychologists has been influenced by the emergence of organized health-care delivery. Elliot and Klapow (1997) proposed that psychologists be trained to assume the role of behavioral scientists and called for the revisions of training models so psychology can maintain its prominent role in health-care delivery systems. This manuscript extends Elliot and Klapow's (1997) discussion of training psychologists in a manner that helps them meet the needs of consumers and be marketable. Thus, it (I) presents concrete recommendations for fostering a behavioral scientist approach, (2) recommends the development of training communities that could assist in the expansion of the roles and functions of psychologists, and (3) discusses the implementation of business management training focusing on managing managed care.
