In a study, economic indices were computed from the experimental data obtained from the investigation carried out at Combatore during summer 1991, rainy season (kharif) 1991 and summer 1992 to find out the influence of irrigation schedule, layout, organic amendment and weed control on the performance of sesame (Sesamum indicum L,). Higher gross returns, net returns, benefit :cost ratio and gross returns/day were realized when irrigation was scheduled at 0.45 IW: CPE ratio given through an irrigation layout of furrows (ridges), incorporated with 10 tonnes/ha of coconut fibre (coir) waste with a weed-control method of pre-emergence application of pendimethalin @ 0.75 kg/ha + 1 hand-weeding.
