DESIGN AND HEAT DISSIPATION TEST OF THE CUTTER WITH HEAT PIPE COOLING

摘要
Installation of a heat pipe in the cutting tool system is a new and environment-friendly method dissipating cutting heat. The concerned research literatures are summarized firstly, then the test systems simulating the heating condition in cutting process were established to determine the maximum heat transfer power of the heat pipe, and the orthogonal experiments were carried out to optimize the using parameters of the heat pipe in various cooling conditions. Based on the test results and the temperature field characteristics of cylindrical turning and end milling, some turning cutters and an end milling cutter with embedded heat pipe were designed; though cutting experiments the cutting temperatures of these heat pipe cutters were measured and compared with that of the common cutters. Under the same cutting condition, the cutting temperatures of the cutters with heat pipe cooling decrease obviously than those of common cutters.
