Change in a hyperfine field at 57Fe nuclei in aerosol Fe nanoparticles when adding a small chromium admixture

摘要
A study was conducted to investigate the effect of the small admixture of chromium to iron on the hyperfine fields at 57Fe nuclei in the bulk state and in aerosol particles. It was demonstrated that such an admixture led to a significant change in the distribution of hyperfine fields in aerosol nanoparticles, without having any impact on the bulk state. Pure iron obtained by decomposition of Fe(CO)5 and electrolytic chromium with 99.9% purity were used to conduct the investigations. The FeCr alloy with 2.36 at. % content of chromium was prepared by high-frequency heating of the initial components suspended in an argon atmosphere. The alloy composition was monitored by specimen weighing before and after alloying the components, along with the use of X-ray diffraction and the X-ray fluorescent analysis. Aerosol particles of pure iron and the FeCr alloy were obtained by the evaporation of the initial materials, primarily degassed in a vacuum in argon at a pressure of 3 Torr.
