International perspectives on ethics in critical care

The ethical issues of triage, witholding and withdrawing treatments and interventions, predicting outcomes and problems of informed consent are considered. Differences in the attitudes of medical professionals in various countries are considered together with the reasons underlying these differences. The principles of medical ethics are discussed, and we consider the differences and similarities in the approach of physicians from different backgrounds to the triage of the critically ill.
