摘要
The safe storage of nuclear waste consisting of radioactive materials using cements, glasses and ceramics is discussed. Waste immobilization is based on the technologies of vitrifcation, cementation, and the use of ceramics in the treatment of nuclear wastes to allow long-term storage. Vitrification is applied for high-level waste and uses high active liquor fed into a calciner where evaporation takes place. Cementation is applied to low and medium-level wastes and incorporates radioactive waste into a cement paste for it to harden and set. These products then move into repository for long-term.
