Simulation Study on Commutation Leading Angle Control of Static Frequency Converter for the Startup of Large-scale Synchronous Condenser

摘要
Static frequency converter is widely used in startup of large-scale synchronous condensers. In high-speed stage, the inverter on the machine side adopts natural commutation, and the commutation leading angle beta is usually set 60 degrees. However, it restrains quick startup. In this paper, a control method of commutation leading angle beta is proposed to reduce the startup time. For control of beta, the arc extinguishing angle gamma, the load angle delta, and the thyristor commutation overlap angle mu are calculated. According to the simulation result of startup in Matlab/ Simulink, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified.
