摘要：
A prediction equation for the effective size of selected populations with overlapping generations was derived, in terms of the cumulative effect of selection on gene frequency. Monte Carlo simulation was carried out to check the equation. The result showed that there is good agreement between observed and predicted values. Based on the form of the obtained equation, some properties of the effective size of selected populations with overlapping generations were discussed.
