Pasteurella dagmatis and dog-bite wound

Pasteurella dagmatis is a commensal bacteria of the respiratory airways and gastrointestinal flora of animals. This bacteria, previously known as Pasteurella ''gas'', Pasteurella new species 1 or Pasteurella pneumotropica type Henriksen is rarely implicated in human pathology. We report the isolation of this bacteria, associated with Moraxella sp, from a wound infection on the right hand resulting from a dog bite. After surgical and medical treatment, the patient's condition was improved. P. dagmatis is often isolated simultaneously with other bacteria and mis-identification may have contributed to a slightly underestimated frequency of its isolation.
