摘要
We study an enhancement to the coherent Thomson scattering by scattering off a few-cycle incident laser pulse from a relativistic electron layer. Here the existing theory for long incident lasers is extended, which allows us to calculate coherent Thomson scattering in the few-cycle regime. From the analytic theory and PIC simulations, we find two new nonadiabatic effects: amplitude enhancement and frequency downshift. The scattering efficiency can be increased by two orders of magnitude due two these two effects when the thickness of the layer is larger than the wavelength of the generated X-ray pulse.
