Malignant Melanoma of the Esophagus: A Case of Report

We report a case of malignant melanoma of the esophagus. A 61-year-old male was referred to our institution complaining of dysphagia. Endoscopic examination showed smooth elastic soft protruded lesion 30cm from incisor. Endoscopically we diagnosed the tumor as malignant melanoma without biopsy because the tumor had black pigmentation. The patient underwent a subtotal esophagectomy and two field lymphadenectomy. Histological diagnosis was malignant melanoma. Forteen month later, CT showed recurrent disease in the lung and anterior rnediastinum. The patient was treated with chemothrapy based on the DAV+Feron regimen and radiation therapy but died of tumor recurrence 31 months after operation (27 months after recurrence).
