PROPOSALS TO REFORM THE SPANISH CIVIL CODE

It is inevitable to highlight the need to reform the Spanish Civil Code to adapt it to the new Spanish social, economic and technological reality, and for this reason, the aim of this paper is to analyse the deficiencies currently accumulated in the Spanish Civil Code and the attempts to modernise or recodify it. The multiple reforms that the text has undergone, more than seventy, will not be studied, even though they include the modification of many articles, because they are sectorial reforms aimed at a specific matter and not at a total modernisation of the Code or of any of its Books. Consequently, the main modernising initiatives of the General Codification Commission and the Association of Civil Law Professors will be analysed
