History and Trade. An Illustrated History of Commerce and Tourism Education at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. Fourth Edition

“People who do not know their history are like a child who does not know his parents”, said Nicolae Iorga. The approach of the author of this work starts from the idea that history – the history of an entity or institution – is the best business card and confirms that those who do not learn from the achievements, but especially from the mistakes of the past, do not create a solid foundation for building the future. Therefore, the author enthusiastically joins other colleagues who show an increased interest in the institution’s past and follows the exhortation of the great poet Mihai Eminescu, who wrote: “If a generation can have a merit, it is that of being a faithful follower of history, of fulfilling the tasks necessarily imposed by the place it occupies in the chain of times.” In fact, the author conducted the first archival investigations in connection with the past of the Faculty of Commerce of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies in 2000. On this basis, the following year, on the occasion of the celebration of the uninterrupted functioning of the faculty, he published the work of Jubilee 50, and in 2006 he resumed the subject under the title History and Trade – From the past of trade education at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (book in Romanian, entitled “Istorie şi comerţ – Din trecutul învăţământului. © 2022 The Author(s).
