The persistence of the Middle Ages: An essay on scientific and academic thought in the post-truth era

A great similarity between the way of constructing and validating knowledge between the periods of the High Middle Ages and the present time is proposed, based on a critical analysis of the way in which the mass media and public opinion act on knowledge. academic and scientific thoughts. The analysis considers four elements: post-truth as a current concept, the media consequences it entails, the comparison with medieval thought and the prospective analysis of our media reality. As a result, it is concluded that a concept initially applied to US politics in 2010 has become a bastion of ideas and nonsense that have become an ironically similar behavior, between the two historically dissimilar periods.
