"Books are read in the Future". About the Temporality of Wolfgang Herrndorf's "Work and Structure"

This narratological and phenomenological reading of Herrndorf 's extraordinary bestseller analyses the text with regard to the temporality it describes and the temporality it develops: the temporality of a lifetime and of a writing process for which death has become a concrete, imminent possibility. Based on the broadly shared reading experience of the meaningfulness (,Bedeutsamkeit`) and the peculiar,pull` of the text, Arbeit und Struktur is discussed regarding the practices of writing and its media, the,lifetime consciousness` Herrndorf developed through this, and as a dense,lifetime narrative` sui generis.
