We know that when managed poorly conflict has the potential to negatively affect the care of our patients and we will discuss some of the communication models that are available to help staff manage it when it arises. It is important looking forward that we minimize unnecessary conflict wherever possible, and therefore this article will also explore some of the current initiatives developed to raise awareness of the impact that conflict can have in the workplace, as well as the NHS' approach to conflict resolution training for its staff.
