摘要
In a complex healthcare system such as the NHS we are exposed to conflict every day. Conflict can arise from many different sources, and the pressures that our service currently faces will only serve to drive this further. We know that when managed poorly conflict has the potential to negatively affect the care of our patients and we will discuss some of the communication models that are available to help staff manage it when it arises. It is important looking forward that we minimize unnecessary conflict wherever possible, and therefore this article will also explore some of the current initiatives developed to raise awareness of the impact that conflict can have in the workplace, as well as the NHS' approach to conflict resolution training for its staff.
