In this work I propose a reading of the Spanish film La lengua de las mariposas (1999), directed by Jose Luis Cuerda, with an emphasis on the representation of libertarian thought and its relevance when thinking about processes of political subjectification in relation to pedagogical practices. I argue that the film illustrates the practices of an anarchist teacher who breaks the rules established in a traditional environ-ment by considering teaching as a political practice based on liberty and uncertainty, oriented towards the appearance of a political-democractic subject. In this sense, I suggest that the work of Jacques Ranciere on politics and subjectification in relation to teaching can help to comprehend this representation. In the last instance, I want to highlight the act of teaching as the teacher becomes the vehicle of the emergence of a political subject.
