Student Life at Scale: Humanizing the Student Experience at Scale through Belonging, Engagement, and Community

Using the Online Master of Science in Computer Science program in the College of Computing at Georgia Tech as a case study, this paper explores the ways in which student life initiatives can humanize the online student experience at scale through a holistic and student care-centric approach. By analyzing ten student life initiatives from the program, we highlight ways to ensure belonging, facilitate engagement, and create community at scale and mitigate the isolation and social disconnectedness students may feel in large online programs.
